Welcome to the Herbal Apprenticeship Program
A hands-on, immersive journey into the art and science of herbal medicine.
Are you ready to deepen your connection with plants, your own body, and the healing traditions of herbal medicine? Whether you’re an aspiring herbalist or simply seeking to care for yourself and your community more holistically, this apprenticeship offers the tools, knowledge, and practical experience you need to confidently step into the world of plant medicine.
Rooted in traditional herbal wisdom and supported by modern clinical insights, our Herbal Apprenticeship is more than a course—it’s a transformational experience. Over the course of this training, you’ll explore the energetic language of plants, the foundations of clinical herbalism, and the essential skills of formulation and herbal pharmacy. Each module is designed to be hands-on, grounded, and empowering.
Course Overview
Herbal Energetics
Understand herbs not just by what they do—but how they work energetically in the body. You’ll be introduced to Western Energetics, including the Four Elements and Conditions and the Six Tissue States—a foundational framework for understanding imbalance. Through guided herb tastings, you’ll develop sensory intuition and learn to identify plant actions by taste, smell, and feel. You’ll also begin practicing clinical observation, a vital skill for working with real people and real health challenges.
Herbal Medicine Formulation
Learn how to create effective, personalized herbal blends using the Six Steps to Formulation, a step-by-step system that brings confidence and clarity to herbal practice. We’ll go deep into each step, giving you the insight to make safe, synergistic formulas. Through patient intake role play, you’ll practice asking the right questions, listening deeply, and connecting the dots to create truly supportive herbal protocols.
Herbal Pharmacy
From garden to bottle, learn how to create and prepare medicine with intention. You’ll gain hands-on experience in how to pour and dose teas and tinctures, craft potent salves, medicated creams, syrups, and tincture extracts. These time-honored preparations are the building blocks of herbal practice—and you’ll leave with the confidence to stock your own apothecary.
Body System Modules
Each of these modules focuses on a major body system. You’ll explore common clinical conditions, how they’re addressed in conventional medicine, and how herbs can support healing naturally. Every system-specific class includes herb tastings and deep dives into clinical therapeutics.
Digestive System
Explore herbs that support gut health, relieve inflammation, and promote optimal digestion. Learn how to work with conditions such as IBS, indigestion, and reflux—through both herbal and pharmaceutical lenses.
Nervous System
Delve into herbal approaches for anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and nervous exhaustion. Learn how to soothe and strengthen the nervous system with gentle, effective nervines and adaptogens.
Cardiovascular System
Support heart health with herbs that regulate blood pressure, improve circulation, and nourish emotional well-being. Learn how herbalists and physicians view cardiovascular challenges—and how herbs fit into the bigger picture.
Endocrine System
Balance is the key to vitality. In this module, you’ll learn how to support the body’s hormonal systems—thyroid, adrenals, pancreas, and more—using adaptogenic and endocrine-modulating herbs.
Integumentary System (Skin)
From eczema to acne to wound healing, discover how to work with herbs both topically and internally to promote healthy skin. You’ll gain insight into the root causes of common skin conditions and how to address them holistically.
Musculoskeletal System
Explore natural support for inflammation, injury recovery, arthritis, and chronic pain. You’ll learn about herbs that reduce swelling, ease tension, and support the structure and strength of the body.
